Robert Wayne Gladden Jr., 15, who opened fire on Monday during the first day of school at Perry Hall High School in Baltimore, was charged Tuesday as an adult and held without bond. Gladden was charged on Tuesday with attempted murder and assault and underwent a mental-health evaluation, with his lawyer saying the teenager is “devastated” and “out of it.” Gladden is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center. His lawyer, George Psoras Jr., insisted his client had been bullied and pushed to the breaking point before Monday’s shooting. Gladden’s stepfather, Andrew Eric Piper, 43, was arrested Monday after police searched the family’s home and found marijuana and firearms.
