Fox News has released its first statement on Tuesday in response to the revelation that its star primetime host Sean Hannity had a previously undisclosed professional relationship with President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen. “While FOX News was unaware of Sean Hannity’s informal relationship with Michael Cohen and was surprised by the announcement in court yesterday, we have reviewed the matter and spoken to Sean and he continues to have our full support,” the statement reads. Hannity denied that Cohen ever “represented” him as an attorney but did acknowledge getting legal advice from Cohen, saying on his radio show, “I might have handed him 10 bucks [and said,] ‘I definitely want your attorney-client privilege on this,’ something like that.” The network did not address the conflict of interest issues that have arisen since the news broke on Monday.
