Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly slammed Donald Trump as a “desperate, scared old man” in response to comments the former president made about his 2024 rival Kamala Harris’ race on Wednesday. At the National Association of Black Journalists convention, Trump said, “She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black. And now she wants to be known as Black. So I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?” When questioned by CBS about the comments, Kelly, who is vying for Harris’ VP pick, said Trump over the last week “has been having his butt kicked.” He also explained why he thinks Trump is “worried” about his latest opponent after Joe Biden withdrew from the race. “She’s going to win the election in November and she’s going to be our next president. His comments are not unexpected for him. He’s done this before, he’s not going to change, it’s pretty obvious to me why he’s doing this.”
