The Senate voted 60–40 to approve Bryon Todd Jones to be director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) on Wednesday. The bureau had not had a permanent director since 2006. All 54 members of the Democratic caucus voted to move forward with consideration of President Barack Obama's pick, along with six Republicans. Jones had been the acting director of the ATF since 2011, while also serving as the U.S. Attorney for Minnesota.
