Seth Meyers Shoots Down Trump’s ‘Insane’ Idea for Drones
From CNN to Rep. Nancy Mace, Meyers found no shortage of drone hysteria to mock.

NBC
In his “Closer Look” segment Wednesday, Seth Meyers mocked media outlets like CNN and Fox News for being “obsessed with drones.”
He showed a CNN clip where a reporter asked an aviation expert, “Are these drones coming from a foreign adversary like China or Iran?” The expert said no, explaining, “They would turn the lights off.”
“You can believe him because his Ph.D. is in stating the f---ing obvious,” Meyers said.
Meyers also showed an interview clip of South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace, a Republican, speculating that the drones could’ve been “craft from outer space‚” or that they could’ve come from Russia, China, or Iran. She speculated about those countries, “Are they looking for radiation? Are they looking for a missing nuclear warhead?”

Meyers replied, “Oh my God, in one clip she managed to crack a whole rack of supermarket tabloids. ‘Is it aliens? Is it Russia and China? Are Brad and Jen getting back together?’”

He continued, “Somehow the suggestion that it’s aliens is not even the craziest part of that clip. Do you think Russia or China lost a nuclear warhead and it’s in New Jersey? Did they lose it in a poker game in Atlantic City? Is that why Putin’s been walking up and down the beach with one of those metal detectors?”
Meyers also ripped into Donald Trump and other Republicans' suggestions that the government should shoot the drones down, by showing a clip of the same aviation expert in the earlier CNN interview explaining why it was a bad idea:
“You wouldn’t want to shoot this down because if you hit the light bulb battery, you might set the whole forest on fire, or your house, or hurt someone,” he explained. “And it’s illegal.”
“But other than those 12 reasons, still a pretty good idea to shoot them down, though, right?” Meyers mocked.
Meyers also took some light offense after hearing a recent Neil DeGrasse Tyson interview in which the famous scientist expressed doubt that actual aliens would ever be interested in flying around New Jersey.
“For your information, New Jersey is the home of Bruce Springsteen, Thomas Edison, and, for some reason, both New York football teams, who, not to brag, currently have six wins combined,” Meyers replied.
He added, “You don’t think aliens would have good reason to visit New Jersey? What if they want to go to the beach or the diner or the mall?... Where else can you get a spray tan, your ears pierced, a slice of pizza, a Yankee candle that smells like pizza, and a bejeweled handbag that says ‘Diva’ on it? Only in a mall in New Jersey, baby!”
