“Well, President Trump’s top-shelf legal is at it again,” Seth Meyers said Thursday night.
The Late Night host was referring to the debut of Rudy Giuliani as Trump’s outside counsel in the Russia investigation, which got off to a rough start this week when he may have incriminated his own client during an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
“There’s no doubt that Trump has a crack legal team,” Meyers said, “and by that I mean every time one of his lawyers is on my TV, the screen cracks.”

After playing a montage of Giuliani’s “super-chill, laid back, fact-filled” speech to the Republican National Convention in 2016 that ended with him asking, “Are we crazy?” the host replied, “You are. God bless him, though. I hope I have that much energy when I’m 200 years old.”
On Wednesday night, Giuliani told Hannity that Trump paid back his fixer Michael Cohen for the $130,000 hush payment to porn star Stormy Daniels, despite months of denials from Trump and White House officials that the president even knew about the payment. “The best part is Hannity didn’t even ask Cohen about the Cohen investigation,” Meyers noted. “And yet, for some reason, Giuliani went out of his way to bring up the Stormy Daniels payment.”
“Rudy, what is wrong with you?!” Meyers asked. “You’re the president’s lawyer and you just told everyone he lied on TV. On Sean Hannity’s show. You cracked under no pressure. If Rudy Giuliani had been O.J.’s lawyer, he would have said, ‘Hey, even if your gloves don’t fit, you can still stab somebody.”
Meyers went on to say, “You know Hannity can’t believe he made news on his show.” Referring to Hannity’s off-camera, “Oh, I didn’t know, he did,” he added, “Sean Hannity is the only guy who would say, ‘Dear god, what have I done?’ when what he has done is journalism.”
