
For decades, the style of the Seven Sisters colleges (Barnard, Vassar, Bryn Mawr, Smith, Mount Holyoke, Radcliffe, and Wellesley) has become synonymous with an All-American, preppy aesthetic. A new book, Seven Sisters Style (April 2014, Rizzoli), catalogues the changing collegiate fashion at these women's schools, highlighting the more menswear-inspired letterman jackets, loose Bermuda shorts, and denim jeans that, in the 1960s and 1970s, were considered ground-breaking sartorial selections for women.
