An Oklahoma county sheriff and five jail officials are being indicted on felony second-degree manslaughter charges for the 2016 death of an inmate who was confined to a chair for more than 48 hours. Anthony Huff was sent to Garfield County Jail on public-intoxication charges; he was strapped to a chair for more than two days without adequate food or water, according to jail records and court documents. Huff was declared dead after being found unresponsive. Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter said a medical examiner had found the probable cause of death to be “chronic alcoholism and due to a compulsive condition from a prior disease.”
