Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke kicked off his speech at the Republican National Convention Monday night by praising acquittal of Lt. Brian Rice of the Baltimore Police Department on charges surrounding the death of Freddie Gray. Clarke’s comments received a rousing applause from the crowd and he called the Baltimore case a “malicious prosecution” on the part of “activist state’s attorney Marilyn Mosby.” Immediately following Clarke’s address, Darryl Glenn, an black Senate candidate in Colorado, said: “Someone with a tan needs to say this: all lives matter!” Rice was acquitted Monday of involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment and misconduct.
