Wearing the signature black and white wig that covers most of her face, Sia had a bit of trouble finding her way into James Corden’s car. But once she did, the singer did not hold back as the pair belted out hit after hit, including “Chandelier” and “Alive,” for the latest edition of Carpool Karaoke.
Sia explained to Corden that she only wears the face-covering wigs to retain “a modicum of privacy” when she’s on camera. After experiencing life as an alcoholic and a drug addict she decided she did not want to be a public artist because it was “destabilizing” for her. “I thought, ‘What doesn't exist in pop music at the moment?’” she said. “And it was mystery.”
Corden also gave Sia the chance to show off her skills on songs she has written for other pop stars, such as David Guetta’s “Titanium” and Rihanna’s “Diamonds.” And the host also grilled her about her alleged belief in aliens, a piece of trivia that she did not deny.

As always, Carpool Karaoke helped viewers get a better sense of a major artist who is too often guarded by their entourage, or, in Sia’s case, her hair. It would have been nice to finally see her face on television, but we will have to settle for this small bit of unencumbered banter with Corden.
Not to mention the best singing we’ve heard on Carpool Karaoke since Adele.
