Simone Biles Hits Back After Ex-Teammate Shades Olympic Gymnastics Team

MIC DROP

MyKayla Skinner said Team USA’s 2024 roster of gymnasts was lackluster because “the girls just don’t have the work ethic.”

Simone Biles has seemingly clapped back at controversial comments her former Team USA teammate MyKayla Skinner made in a now-deleted YouTube video. According to the Daily Mail, in the video, Skinner talked about the 2024 roster of gymnasts who will compete in the Olympic games this summer. “Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn’t like what it used to be,” Skinner said in the video. “The girls just don’t have the work ethic,” she added. Seemingly in response, Biles took to Threads to address her ex-teammates comments. “Not everyone needs a mic and a platform,” Biles wrote. Following the controversy her comments caused, Skinner took to Instagram to formally apologize. “It was not my intention to offend or disrespect any of the athletes,” her apology read, in part. She went on to explain that she hadn’t completely processed the abuse she encountered during the “Marta era”—an apparent reference to Márta Károlyi, the notoriously brutal former team coordinator of USA Gymnastics.
