Former Congresswoman Mary Bono has been named interim president and chief executive of embattled USA Gymnastics—and the sport’s biggest star isn’t happy about it. Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles took to Twitter on Saturday to comment on a photo of Bono using a dark marker to cover up the Nike swoosh on her golf cleats, in apparent protest of the sneaker firm’s ad campaign featuring Colin Kaepernick. “Don’t worry,” Biles tweeted. “It’s not like we needed a smarter usa gymnastics president or any sponsors or anything.” Bono replaces former USA Gymnastics President Kerry Perry, who resigned amid fierce criticism from gymnasts over handling of sexual abuse allegations against onetime team doctor Larry Nassar. Biles has said she was molested by Nassar.
