Oh Bart, way to break our hearts. The Simpsons on Sunday gave a touching farewell to Marcia Wallace, the actress who voiced Bart’s teacher Mrs. Krabappel who died last month. In the credits of the season premiere, Bart wrote on the chalkboard “We’ll really miss you, Mrs. K” and the episode (appropriately titled “Four Regrettings and a Funeral”) ended with a picture of Mrs. Krabappel laughing and the words “In Loving Memory of Marcia Wallace.” Prior to the season premiere, Fox re-aired a classic episode, “The Ned-liest Catch,” which featured Mrs. Krabappel dating Ned Flanders and delves into Mrs. K’s backstory. Simpsons executive producer Al Jean said that they will retire Wallace’s character.
