If you’re in Singapore, you should probably stay indoors. The pollution in the city-state has hit record levels, as the government blamed the smog on Indonesia’s practice of burning forests (a common way to get land ready for planting). Indonesia, however, isn’t taking this sitting down. “Singapore shouldn’t be like children, in such a tizzy,” one official said. Aside from everyone being told to stay inside, flight controllers are on high alert and some schools in Malaysia have been closed. The Pollution Standard Index is at 371—the previous high was 226. Anything over 300 is bad for you.
