Mitt Romney’s campaign was not Pinterested. Or amused. The team for the Republican candidate reached out to the new social-media site Pinterest to put the kibosh on an account that was created Thursday under the name “MittRomneyGOP.” Pinterest, a site with fast-growing reach on the Internet, allows users to populate their profiles by “pinning” images with links and captions. The account had taken a satirical tone on Romney’s well-publicized private wealth, linking to photos of fine wine, yachts, and luxury cars. Pinterest’s community manager Enid Hwang wrote an email to the account’s author, Eric Spiegelman, asking him to change the name. After Spiegelman refused to do so, Pinterest made the change itself, choosing the alias “fakemittromney.”
