At least six people are dead after the high-speed train to Copenhagen they were riding in struck what appears to be debris that blew off a cargo train during windy conditions. The accident, which occurred on the Great Belt road and rail bridge connecting the small Danish islands of Zealand and Funen, occurred around 7:30 a.m. local time Wednesday. The bridge had been closed to car traffic because of the heavy weather conditions, but trains were allowed to continue service. First reports indicate the crew pulled the emergency brake system just as the train struck heavy debris on the track. Emergency teams were hampered by severe weather conditions as they tried to reach the accident. There were 131 passengers and three crew members on the train.
