Six families of the Sandy Hook shooting victims and an FBI agent who responded to the scene have filed a defamation lawsuit against InfoWars’ Alex Jones, who has repeatedly called the shooting “manufactured.” The lawsuit accuses Jones of “a years-long campaign of abusive and outrageous false statements” about the shooting, which killed 20 children and six educators in December 2012 in Connecticut. The plaintiffs also claim that Jones “saw an opportunity” when the shooting happened. “He went on a sustained attack that has lasted for years, accusing shattered family members of being actors, stating as fact that the shooting itself was a hoax and inciting others to act on these malicious lies,” the lawsuit states. The plaintiffs include the parents of four children killed in the shooting, the mother and sisters of one killed teacher, the daughter of the deceased Sandy Hook principal, and an FBI agent present at the scene. The lawsuit, which is asking for over $15,000 in damages, also names InfoWars and the men behind the “SandyHookJustice” website. Two families of children who were killed in the shooting also filed a defamation lawsuit against Jones last month.
