Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night way too hot or cold? It’s a common experience for a majority of people, but there’s only so much you can do, like adding a fan or tossing on another blanket. But that’s all reactionary. What if you could proactively regulate how hot or cold your bed was without having to get up? That’s where the Eight Sleep Pod comes in.
The Pod is a high-tech sleeping system that combines “dynamic temperature regulation, biometric tracking, smart home integrations and sleep coaching to deliver a total solution for enhanced rest and recovery.” The system delivers a fully customizable cooling and heating system built into one of Eight Sleep’s foam mattress. “The Pod makes us the first company to tackle all of the issues that prevent a good night’s sleep and deliver optimal sleep fitness,” shared Matteo Franceschetti, Co-founder and CEO of Eight Sleep in a press release. “We’ve come up with a solution that is seamlessly integrated into the bed, and learns and adjusts based on circadian cycle to make sure you’re never too hot or too cold at night.”
This innovative machine is designed to keep your bed at the optimum temperature for sleep. You can adjust it from 55 degrees all the way up to 115 degrees, and the Pod will learn your habits based on biofeedback and machine learning and adjust to suit your perfect sleeping climate. It can easily merge with smart home devices like Alexa, and can even track a “personalized sleep fitness score” that includes sleep duration, quality, and consistency. It can help, over time, to get you healthier sleep.

The Pod is designed with a handful of key parts. First, is the Active Grid technology. The perforated surface targets key pressure points on the body to keep you feeling comfortable, while the thermoregulation and sensors keep the biometric tracking and smart thermostat working. The bed itself isn’t just a throwaway, equipped with four layers of adaptive foam. But the real keys to the power of the Pod are the Hub and app. The Hub houses all the thermoregulation capabilities and the water tank. The app is the brains behind the operation with stats and a sleep coach built in.
Not only can you create the perfect environment to sleep in, but it also allows you to program a “thermo alarm.” This means you can be awakened gradually as the bed cools prior to the time you have to wake up. I think we can all agree that a gentle, cooling breeze in the morning is so much better to wake up to than a blaring alarm.
The Pod comes in all bed sizes from a Full priced at $1,995 up to a California King at $2,495.
