Hell hath no fury like blaming a victim for a sexual assault. A cop in Toronto unwittingly started a movement last month when he told a group of Osgoode law students that “I’ve been told I’m not supposed to say this—however, women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized.” In the three months since, “SlutWalking” protests have taken off throughout Canada and the U.S.—with over 2,000 people signing up via Facebook to take part in a walk on Sunday in Boston. The marchers chant “Yes means yes, no means no” and “Hey hey, ho ho, patriarchy has to go.” More marches are planned throughout the U.S. and in Australia, Argentina, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, and Britain.
