Saturday Night Live nailed one of the week’s most entertaining political spectacles during the cold open, bringing back Jay Pharoah’s Ben Carson to endorse Darrell Hammond’s Donald Trump.

“Dr. Ben Carson is a very special man,” Trump said from his podium. “And for once, I don't mean that as an insult to the mentally challenged.”

Carson admitted that he and Trump have had their political disagreements, saying they’re like “ebony and orangey.” For instance, Carson said, “I question his knowledge on health care, and he called me a psycho and a child molester.”

After Trump requested a juice box and a nap for his friend, Carson added, “Bye, America, it’s been weird.”

In more important news, the night brought the return once again of Larry David as Bernie Sanders, celebrating his big upset win in Michigan. “I want to thank everyone who voted for me, and apologize to everyone else for making your Facebook feeds so, so annoying,” Sanders said. “I mean, I love my supporters, but they’re too much, right?”

“I’m great, but I’m not five posts a day great,” Sanders said. With all due respect, he told his supporters to “get a life.”

From there, Sanders broke into what sounded a lot like a Larry David stand-up routine. “Can I ask you something? What’s a Superdelegate? Who calls themselves that?” he asked. “It’s so cocky. They walk around like they’re such big shots. I beg your pardon, Mr. Superdelegate. Let me tell you something, I’ve met some of these Superdelegates, they’re not so super. Mediocre delegates is more like it.”

“My message is resonating with a very diverse group of white people,” Sanders added, saying the young people love him because he reminds them of themselves. “I have a lot of big plans, and absolutely no idea how to achieve them.”

At that point, we returned to the Trump rally, where the crowd apparently turned on Ben Carson, mistaking him for an angry protester. “Guys, what did I say? Not this one,” Trump said incredulously.
