William Rodriguez Abadía, the son of Cali drug lord Miguel Rodríguez Orejuela, says popular Netflix series Narcos paints him incorrectly as an “assassin.” His father, Rodríguez Orejuela, is the former head of the powerful Colombian drug cartel. Rodriguez Abadía used to work as his lawyer in fighting legal battles with the U.S. government. “I was my father's lawyer,” said Rodriguez Abadía. “At that time, the United States was pushing a string of counter-drug proposals [in Colombia] like money laundering, illicit enrichment, seizures of properties and extraditions. In the end, they won everything.” He added, “I cannot accept their portrayal of me as a criminal, ruthless assassin, and psychopath.”
