Do not underestimate the power of PlayStation. Sony admitted Tuesday that hackers had stolen sensitive information about users, including names, email addresses, telephone information, and possibly credit-card data. Sony shut down the network six days ago, when hackers first cracked in, on fears of a massive security breach coming—but the company faced a backlash from users when they remained silent on why the network had been shut down. The PlayStation Network, or PSN, is Sony’s venture into moving the gaming into the online world—making 948 games available in the store and 31,000 movies and TV shows also available for download. Sony said the PSN should be back online later this week.
