Lou Brock, a base-stealing legend who spent 16 seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals and was elected to the Hall of Fame on the first ballot in 1985, has died at the age of 81. Brock, who suffered from blood cancer and diabetes, went to the World Series three times and had racked up more than 3,000 hits when he retired in 1979. At that point, he had more stolen bases than any other player—938—a number that has since been surpassed only by Rickey Henderson.
