Google unveiled a new cloud gaming service called Stadia during San Francisco's Game Developers Conference on Tuesday and announced it would officially launch sometime this year. According to The Verge, CEO Sundar Pichai said the Stadia service would focus on being able to seamlessly stream games to all kinds of devices—from phones to tablets and TVs—and would support features like posting video game clips straight to YouTube. The company also said it was working on creating their own “game studio for Stadia-exclusive titles,” under the name “Stadia Games and Entertainment.” The service will reportedly be available in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Europe—but no other details about the release were made available. The Verge reports that Google also didn't address pricing or how many games would be available on the service once it launched, but the company promised to provide more specifics in the coming months.
