Stella McCartney might be the suiting queen (her blazers are the best in the business), but for her Spring/Summer 2014 collection, shown Monday in Paris, there were more feminine, seductive elements at play. Flirty lace dresses were transparent around the legs, and longer, flowing satin and silk organza dresses were slashed so the skin could peek through. There were sporty elements as well, such as the cap-sleeved knits and the cropped suit jackets with zip details, but they were fashioned in softer tones and in a washed out daisy motif that ran throughout.
McCartney is one of the few designers on the schedule who refuses to use leather products in her collections, and yet despite these limitations, she manages to work well outside the box. Case in point was the crocodile print that was used for a number of styles -- it looked so chic in the jacquard and is certainly a lighter option for spring than the real thing.
