In this age of around-the-clock news cycles, paparazzi and instant updates, it’s rare that something has the ability to genuinely surprise us. Stephen Colbert did just that earlier today when he hosted Michigan public access TV show Only in Monroe.
Prepping for his Late Show run, Colbert took over Michigan Public Access Cable Television—”there is no ‘I’ in MPACT,” Colbert tells us—and hosted the hour-long show, first interviewing Only in Monroe’s regular hosts, then quizzing Eminem on his Bob Seger knowledge.
Colbert hinted that he’d return in August to host again but even if he doesn’t, this surprise hosting gig is enough to hold us over.
