Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry responded to Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank’s praise of President Donald Trump with a clever barb. In an interview with CNBC, Plank called Trump an “asset” to the country. Asked about that description by The Mercury News, Curry—who is one of Under Armour’s most popular endorsers—replied: “I agree with that description,” Curry said, “if you remove the ‘et’” from the word asset. Curry further said Plank explained to him privately that the connection to Trump was purely from a business perspective, and not at all an endorsement of his more controversial policies. Curry added that if he does eventually feel like the company no longer reflects his values, he would cut ties. “If I can say the leadership is not in line with my core values, then there is no amount of money, there is no platform I wouldn’t jump off if it wasn’t in line with who I am,” he said. “So that’s a decision I will make every single day when I wake up. If something is not in line with what I’m about, then, yeah, I definitely need to take a stance in that respect.”
