Donald Sterling tried to reclaim his severely sullied reputation Sunday night in an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper, but it arguably could have gone better. In an interview taped Sunday and set to air Monday, Sterling said, “I made a terrible mistake. I'm here to apologize.” Yet, in his first public comments since being banned for life by the NBA, Sterling also managed to criticize beloved basketball player Magic Johnson. “Has he done everything he can do to help minorities? I don’t think so,” says Sterling. “I’ll say it: He’s great. But I don’t think he’s a good example for the children of Los Angeles.” Sterling's estranged wife, Shelly, has also been making the TV rounds, protesting the NBA's efforts to get her to sell her share of the Clippers. "I don't know why I should be punished for what his actions were,” she said.
