Steve Bannon’s Financier Rebekah Mercer Rebukes Him

Rebekah Mercer, Steve Bannon’s top financial supporter, issued a rare public statement on Thursday condemning the former top Trump adviser. “I support President Trump and the platform upon which he was elected,” Mercer said. “My family and I have not communicated with Steve Bannon in many months and have provided no financial support to his political agenda, nor do we support his recent actions and statements.” Mercer’s statement comes as Bannon is under fire from Trump himself over his comments to author Michael Wolff about a wide range of topics, including the Russia investigation and the president’s family members. Bannon serves as the chairman of the right-wing site Breitbart, and Mercer said she will continue to financially back the outlet.
