Actor Steve Buscemi was attacked while walking in broad daylight in midtown Manhattan last week, the New York Post reported. According to police, Buscemi was strolling through Kips Bay on Wednesday with a companion when the attacker walked up, punched him in the face, and ran away. He reportedly suffered swelling to his face and eye area and had to be taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. Thankfully, though, the actor appears to be doing fine in recovery. “Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” his publicist said in a statement. “He is ok and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to while also walking the streets of New York.” Police said they weren’t able to catch the suspect, although surveillance footage shows he appears to be a bearded man who wore a baseball camp, blue T-shirt, and black sweatpants at the time of the crime. It was unclear if the assailant recognized Buscemi.
