Therapy has come a long way from the chaise lounge. According to a study published Tuesday, the psychedelic drug LSD comes with therapeutic potential. The 12-person study conducted in Switzerland measured the drug's effect on people with life-threatening illnesses and found a test group had 20 percent less anxiety after taking a full 200-microgram dose during therapy sessions. Meanwhile, low-dose subjects had more anxiety until they were switched to the full dosage. The research was published in The Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease and is the first study of LSD's therapeutic benefits in 40 years.
