The Supreme Court allowed court-ordered redrawing of congressional districts in Pennsylvania on Monday, despite GOP efforts to block the action. Justice Samuel Alito denied emergency appeals from Republican congressional leaders after the state’s Supreme Court ordered a re-drawing of 18 GOP-held districts. The state court ruled last month that these districts had “unfairly benefitted Republicans” and was in violation of the state’s constitution. The state court gave the government three weeks to submit a replacement plan, after which the judges themselves “might draw up their own map.”
