An alleged Tesla thief in Los Angeles was captured Thursday night when the stolen EV’s battery died in the midst of a police chase. The white Model S was reported stolen at about 11:35 p.m., according to KTLA. Cops chased the $75,000 electric car from Koreatown to Hollywood, via the 101 Freeway, until it ran completely out of juice on the 4600 block of Melrose Avenue in East Hollywood. The car belonged to local Fox 11 reporter Susan Hirasuna, who tracked the vehicle’s location on the Tesla app as its available range got lower and lower and finally sputtered to a halt, the outlet reported. The suspect, who has not been identified publicly, was arrested and the Model S impounded pending further investigation.
