The defense attorney for the two young women who stand accused of poisoning Kim Jong Nam at a Kuala Lumpur airport earlier this year said police in Malaysia haven’t yet provided security footage and documents related to the case. “The accused person should not be denied her fundamental right to a fair trial,” said attorney Gooi Soon Seng, who expressed concerns that the two women will be used as scapegoats in the crime. “Neither side may seek unfair advantage by concealing weapons behind its back. There should be no trial by ambush.” Siti Aisyah, from Indonesia, and Doan Thi Huong, of Vietnam, remain in custody following the Feb. 13 murder of the estranged half-brother of North Korean ruler Kim Jong Un. They contend they were duped into killing Kim because they believed they were part of a game show. Authorities say the two women exposed Kim to a banned nerve agent. Four other suspects immediately fled the country after the murder. If convicted, the women face the death penalty.
