At least six people were killed and dozens injured Wednesday night after a tornado carrying hail “the size of softballs” barreled through North Texas. Authorities estimate that at least 50 people were taken to a local hospital, some eventually transferred to one more specialized, 35 miles away. While law enforcement hopes that the death toll will remain at six, rescue crews were said to be resuming their search at daylight. Roger Deed, Hood County’s sheriff, said he is most concerned with two people who were found alarmingly far from their home. The storm, made up of a “swarm of tornadoes” hit two large neighborhoods in Southern Granbury, leaving at least 250 people homeless.
