The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) said Monday that Syria has handed over its remaining stockpile of chemical weapons. Syria turned over 100 tons of toxic material, the final 8 percent of its stockpile. OPCW Director General Ahmed Uzumcu said in a statement, “A major landmark in this mission has been reached today.” He revealed that the remaining chemical weapons “were loaded this afternoon aboard the Danish ship Ark Futura.” They will then be delivered and destroyed at a facility aboard the U.S. vessel Cape Ray and at “commercial facilities” in the U.S., Britain, Finland, and Germany.
