A series of blasts claimed by ISIS in Syria’s Damascus and Homs left 129 people dead on Sunday as Secretary of State John Kerry said a “provisional agreement” was reached on a ceasefire. The official SANA news agency reported bombings in the Sayyida Zeinab suburb of Damascus, where one of Shia Islam’s holiest shrines is located, killed at least 83 people and injured more than 170. Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported 62 were killed. A series of blasts in Homs left at least 46 people dead and dozens wounded, Syria’s Foreign Ministry said. The Observatory said 57 people, including 11 women, were killed in a double car-bombing. Kerry said in Jordan on Sunday he reached a “provisional agreement” with his Russian counterpart on a partial truce. Kerry cautioned the deal “is not yet done,” but added a ceasefire could begin in the next few days.
