Taylor Swift says she never approved the controversial lyrics of “Famous,” despite the video Kim Kardashian West posted on Snapchat that purportedly shows Swift signing off on her husband Kayne West’s song. In an Instagram post, Swift said she never OKed the “I made that bitch famous” line and wasn’t aware of it until she heard the song when everyone else did. Indeed, the video doesn’t show her hearing the song itself. It only shows her thanking them for a heads up of some kind. “I really appreciate it,” she says. “This is so nice.” Swift now says the insinuation she lied is “character assassination.” She writes, “You don’t get to control someone’s emotional response to being called ‘that bitch’ in front of the entire world … I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I never asked to be a part of, since 2009.”
