Target has fired a security guard who falsely accused a young black woman of stealing a bikini and then forced her to lift up her shirt and pull down her pants to prove her innocence. Ashanae Davis, 20, attempted to leave the Michigan store when a guard claimed that she was wearing a stolen bikini bottom underneath her clothes. A second guard handcuffed her and dragged her through the store while loudly accusing her of theft, according to Davis’ lawyer, before taking her to a room and forcing her to remove her clothes in front of the two male guards and a female manager. Davis said she felt “humiliated and forced” by the Target staffers. The retail giant said in a statement that it had fired the guard directly involved in the incident. “We’re sorry for the actions of our former team member, who created an experience we don’t want any guest to have at Target,” it said. “Upon reviewing our team’s actions, we terminated the team member who was directly involved.”
