Following the multiple suicide attacks in Brussels that left at least 31 dead, Ted Cruz called for ramped-up monitoring of Muslim-American populations. “We need to empower law enforcement to patrol and secure Muslim neighborhoods before they become radicalized,” he wrote in a press statement. “This is a war,” the Texan senator said earlier Tuesday during a hastily arranged press conference in D.C., adding that the U.S. military needs to use “full force and fury” against ISIS in response. The Republican presidential candidate also went after GOP frontrunner Donald Trump for his comments questioning the usefulness of NATO one day before attacks rocked the city where the multinational military alliance is based.
