Tesla said Thursday that it would recall 46,096 Cybertruck vehicles in the United States due to issues with the exterior trim panel, which can detach while driving and “create a road hazard for following motorists and increase the risk of injury or a collision.“ This is the eighth time the pick-up has been recalled since its launch in November 2023, previously facing issues with faulty accelerator pedals and loose parts. In 2024, recall management firm BizzyCar reported that Tesla accounted for 5.1 million call-backs, topping the list for U.S. recalls that year. Cybertruck deliveries were already on pause earlier in March due to customer complaints that the trim seemed to be attached with glue. The company said it would replace the panel free of charge. Tesla’s stock has plummeted 40 percent since the start of the year amid anemic sales and pushback over Elon Musk’s political activities.
