Grammy and Tony Award winner Duncan Sheik has spent the past five years working on the songs for the American Psycho musical, which is at last being released in album form tomorrow, March 25. Coinciding with the musical’s U.S. premiere on Broadway, the soundtrack features the London cast and Matt Smith as Bateman, whose performance has been described as a “pure, decadent pleasure” by the London Times and “the most stylish production of the year” by the Sunday Express.

Set amongst the excess of the 1980s, American Psycho is based on Bret Easton Ellis’s novel, which tells the tale of handsome Wall Street banker Patrick Bateman and his pursuit of the darkest side of the American dream.

“I felt strongly that given the nature of the show and its setting in the early MTV era, we needed a ‘real’ music video to promote the show,” Sheik told The Daily Beast. “Our choreographer Lynn Page had the idea of projecting dancers onto the blank canvas of Ben Walker’s torso and face and I liked the idea of doing something minimalist but [hopefully] visually arresting to highlight the song itself.”

The video itself is a psychedelic voyage through Bateman’s subconscious, like the beginning of a James Bond horror movie. Watch it above.
