If the Oscars proved one thing, it’s that 2013 is the year of the wizard. Even by Harry Potter standards, the long white hair on this year’s Academy Awards winners’ platform was...remarkable. It all started when Claudio Miranda took home one of the night’s early awards for his cinematography work on Life of Pi, appearing with a head full of long, fluffy, and layered white hair.
At first, the wizard locks seemed like they’d be a one-off experience. But, abracadabra! Soon after, a tie was announced in the sound editing category with Skyfall’s Per Hallberg and Zero Dark Thirty’s Paul N.J. Ottoson appearing one after the other to accept their awards, both rocking the wizard mystique—lending an added air of magic to their unexpected draw.
