‘The Voice’ Star Dead at 44 After Posting Video on Instagram

The singer passed away mere hours after posting an Instagram story.

Whyte Maloney, who starred in the sixth season of The Voice, has died at the age of 44. The Clark County Coroner in Las Vegas confirmed that the 2014 reality show participant died by suicide on Tuesday, People reported. The singer, originally from Traverse City, Michigan rose to fame on the show when his cover of “Lights” by Journey got a four-chair turn from the judges in his blind audition. He continued on country singer Blake Shelton’s team, getting as far as the top five. Prior to his death, Maloney shared a video on his Instagram story of himself performing at a bar. “Nine fine Irishmen for a private party tonight, and we will be rocking,” he said in the clip.
