Around 1,200 Winter Olympic security staff in South Korea have been quarantined out of fears of an outbreak of the highly contagious norovirus, which has symptoms including vomiting and stomach cramps, Reuters reported. Ahead of Friday’s Opening Ceremony, organizers called in 900 members of the South Korean military to take over for the absent staff, pending medical tests. Games organizing committee chief Lee Hee-beom apologized for the outbreak and said measures to deal with it “will be announced soon.”
