In January, Vogue dubbed it “The Chop.” Others referred to it simply as “The Karlie.” Whatever it was, supermodel Karlie Kloss let the scissors do the talking when she cut nearly 7 inches off of her long brown hair, leaving her with a soft, wavy bob and Birkin-esque bangs.

Over the summer, the first lady showed off a slight ombre look, with honey-colored highlights and side-swept bangs. While the look didn’t spark as big a media storm as her bangs debut did in January, Obama still managed to pull it off.

One thing is for sure, Kerry Washington looks good, regardless of her hairstyle. 2013 was a major year for Kerry—and her hair, which came in an array of bangs, both full-frontal and side-swept, soft buns, short and long lengths, and straight or curly. Clearly Olivia Pope can handle anything.
