Britain’s Home Secretary Theresa May took over as prime minister of the country Wednesday after her election this week as leader of the U.K.’s Conservative Party. David Cameron formally delivered his resignation to the Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace after he defended his record over his six years in office in an address to parliament. Cameron had said he would step down last month after the U.K. voted to leave the European Union.
