Thor: Ragnarok won over moviegoers this weekend, raking in $121 million to give Walt Disney Co.’s Marvel Studios one of the year’s best box-office debuts. The third Thor film brought a jolt of life back into Hollywood after a lackluster October left theater owners with dismal ticket sales. The latest installment in the superhero saga also beat its predecessors, earning almost double that of Thor, which debuted to $65.7 million in 2011, and topping 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, which opened with $85.7 million. The third film, starring Chris Hemsworth as the god of thunder Thor and Cate Blanchett as Hela, the goddess of death, has made $427 million worldwide in 10 days.
