Montana’s attorney general is looking into Three Cups of Tea author Greg Mortenson’s charity, the Central Asia Institute, after author Jon Krakauer and 60 Minutes raised questions about its spending. In the recently published Three Cups of Deceit, Krakauer accuses Mortenson of spending millions of CAI cash on private jets and advertising for his books. One former board member tells Krakauer that Mortenson “regards CAI as his personal ATM.” The charity, based in Bozeman, Montana, told the press Tuesday that Mortenson was being treated in the local hospital for a heart ailment.
