Three Colombians have died from a rare nerve disorder called Guillain-Barre syndrome after contracting the Zika virus, goverrnment health officials said on Friday. National Health Institute Director Martha Lucia Ospina said that all three victims were confirmed to have had Zika and that this indicates that the virus, in addition to causing brain damage infants, can cause deaths in adults. Guillain-Barre syndrome is a rare disease that attacks the nervous system and causes paralysis.
